The Dolls - Insight Installation Pic 3

Insight was the second installation I did with the doll figures.

My work at the time was very materials based and each material I worked with whether copper, wood, even string each invoked a certain feeling of comfort or irritation. I found I was able to use these to build emotional representations of those friends and family closest to me using the dolls as a base.

The more intricate or complex wrappings on the doll the more intricate or complex the relationship being represented.

The installation was about then representing these individuals as they are prioritised in my mind. It was fun to present my mind as a room with a little box filer at the core holding all my inner most thoughts.

The closer the figures are to the middle the closer they are to me. I was trying to represent the space continuing beyond the confines of the room. Some items screwed to the walls, whilst items of furniture were hinted at existing and drawn out in masking tape.
